Beautiful game, thanks for making it!

(+2)

Just... wow, what an experience ! Thank you so much for this wonder of a game. Truly a piece of art

(+1)

Hey

thank you so much for this experience, you two did a wonderfull job.
This game is really moving and everything is serving the immersion so well.
I am amazed.
I'd like to donate to support your work, is there a way ?

(+2)

Thanks for releasing the Linux build <3

(+3)

Это чертовски интересная игра. Я так и не могу отойти от ее сюжетных поворотов! Они продрали меня до мурашек! Просто великолепно!

(+1)

Wonderful game and story, the pixel art animation was very evocative. I also really like the second story, though the third was well done also, but a different vibe. I am looking forward to the team's next project.

(+1)

I was impressed, great work of art. The graphics and animations are simply brilliant (even more considering such a small resolution). And that story! Wow... that could be made into an award winning movie, honestly. Congrats.

(+1)

Really love the atmosphere of all the stories, and I loved how the second story was made.

The pixel art was quite good was a bit afraid would become a pixel hunt, but never had problems with the items, was a beautiful journey from start to finish, thank you for sharing it

(+1)

Thank you very much for the beautiful work you did with this master piece !

(+2)

This is extraordinary, it's mesmerizing and beautiful and stunning.
The animations were incredible, the immersion was so nice I even shivered a bit in *that* gory scene.
It's the best game I have played this year. Congratulations!

First of all thanks for sharing this marvelous masterpiece,  the game is exquisite visually, the music is terrific too, I have already recommended it to all my friends and really hope you can release it on steam someday.

I know it's a short processed AVG, however without the in-game menu makes me quite disturbed during the game play. Will you consider adding cancel full-screen options and save/load mechanism in later version?

Hi, I'm afraid I don't know what you mean by "a short processed AVG".

As to the in-game menu, if you read the description right here on this page, you will see a "Controls" section. Press Esc to access the in-game menu, where you can save your game and then load it from the main menu, and Alt+Enter (or use winsetup.exe) to toggle between fullscreen and windowed mode.

well i guess that mean my win version of game had a error occurred, cuz when i pressed the Esc button and nothing happened, which got me pretty anxious during the game play...and I can only quit the game by task manager

(1 edit)

Hi, Same problem here, hitting Esc just skip the dialogue, in fullscreen or windowed and with each driver. I've also tried to reinstall. I can't save or pause the game. I've only complete the first story and it was great ! I'm eager to see the rest :)

Great work, thanks !

Esc does not work during cutscenes or dialogues.

I've tried Esc dozen times but never at the right time...

Thanks for your reply, it was all my fault !  -_-'

Thank you for such a wonderful game. Feels like a maze filled with colors.

Will you have it on Steam? I'd like to help make  a Chinese version for this game.

(+3)

Holy shit this game looks awesome! I would buy this on Steam :D

(+5)

This should be sold full price on Steam. Dark, vital & harrowing, it showcases a level of writing rarely seen in the medium. Congratulations Ms. Hunt and I hope to see the game on Steam soon!

(+2)

Absolutely breathtaking. The art is gorgeous, the audio compliments the story beautifully. Each character was truly interesting and they all tied together amazingly at the end there. The poor, troubled souls. I don't exactly know what Lady Winterbourne did, but I have my suspicions that in her grief she blamed Lord Socks for the accident and... yeah. Kitty :(

(+3)

Well, that was just... awesome! Short but top-notch quality, definitely on par with some paid games, and even superior in terms of production value (eg some Wadjet Eye games, although excellent, are lacking visually).

In particular the animation is very expressive and super fluid, and the lighting and effects are really impressive! I'd be super interested to see a making of, how you guys were able to pull these off in AGS.

My favorite chapter was the Lady Winterbourne one, everything really came together for a memorable and emotional experience. Can't wait for the next one ;) !

Do Four Travellers dream of electric Androids?

(+2)

Wow, what an amazing production. The art left me speechless so many times, and the writing, slow on the uptick, left a lasting impression.

(+2)

Such beautiful game, both visually and narratively. Enjoyed every second of it!

(-7)

this is a great game, and well made, but what was up with the racial slur?

(1 edit) (+1)(-1)

I haven't watched/played the game yet so I don't know what slur was said but I'm sure it's because this was set in 1929, when slurs were commonly used

(-3)

that's not a good reason. You can make horror without racism

(+2)(-1)

In my opinion, the narrative about his battle with racism wouldn't be as impactful without it. In fact his story wouldn't have been there without it. He did the ritual because of the racism he received from white doctors. It's like saying To Kill a Mockingbird's use of n words should be removed because it is a horrible slur. The whole book is about racism and I think it's important for people to know how much hatred and violence lead to mental health issues of African Americans in the past and now. The whole game isn't simply about horror. It tackles homophobia, PTSD, depression, and racism problems. It was graphic to purposefully to show the hardships of the people in the past (and even what some experience today).

(-5)

I get that of course but throughout the game it was made to seem as if they ostracized him based on his ideas, like the rituals and such, rather than race. I'm saying there's better ways to integrate it into the story, throwing in a slur did absolutely nothing except take away from it in my opinion, almost like an excuse to put it in. I've also found that a lot of horror with black characters is centered solely around racism and it doesn't need to be that way. When nonblack people write Black characters, especially when the story is centered around racism, they should at the very least get a sensitivity reader or something. And I just don't see story writing as an excuse for using slurs, I feel like that should go without saying. The whole situation was odd.

It was to make a point about the racism he faced. It was shown in a bad way, the creators are not condoning use of the slur.

(+5)(-1)

Yep, I played the game and that's exactly it

(-8)

Yeah but there's so many better ways they could have done that if they thought it was necessary to the story. Throwing in one slur didn't get the message across like they thought it would.

This is by far one of the most amazing point and click games I have played recently! Great Job!

I am speechless. How is this aboslute gem of a game even free???

(+2)

This is a beautiful take on the afterlife, the last mans story definitely hit the hardest, but my favorite is the womans ngl. Its mind blowing that this game is free! Seriously, play this game, you wont regret it. Kept me entertained for a few hours, and honestly? Time well spent

Dang, This is really great. I love the music, artwork, story. I have goosebumps all over.

I have my gameplay of this check it out: Act 1 The Silent Room

(+2)

Fantastic, The second story really resonated with me.

(+2)

Absolutely lovely game! Story, art, music all comes together really well. Eerie and unsettling enough in just the right places - incredible experience! Didn't encounter any issues or glitches at all - sets a very high standard :)

Hi!  I would really love to try out the game,  but there seems to be an error and the game crashes after loading goes to 100%. The error message says: "An error has occurred. Please contact the game author for support, as this is likely to be a scripting error and not a bug in AGS.

 in "room15.asc", line 60

Error: Error running function 'room_AfterFadeln'

Error: Null pointer referenced."

I wonder if it's a bug that your side can fix?

Update: I have redownloaded the file and still the problem persists. I'm using Windows 10, x64, and I've whitelisted the game in antivirus softwares. I also saw that another person had the same problem: changed the digital  sound to "Default Waveout Device", and still it's not working...

(+1)

Hi, I'm really sorry to hear that. If you've whitelisted the executable and tried all the different sound output options (not just Default Waveout Device), there really is nothing else I can do on my end. It might be a conflict between your sound card and AGS, but those steps have always solved the issue so far, so it seems to be dependent on some people's systems. Apologies :(

(+1)

I see, that's alright. I'll just try playing it through a different system. Thanks for the amazing game, Laura!

(+2)

Download the ScummVM nightly build. I tested the first chapter and it worked fine.

It's really weird that it works through ScummVM and not natively, but thanks for the tip!

Hi Laura, I wasn't the original commenter, but I think the reason is ScummVM bypasses the aging Allegro library. This will probably be fixed in AGS 3.6 since that replaces Allegro with SDL2.

An amazingly beautiful game.  Please keep making more amazing games!

(+2)

What a wonderful creation!

Gripping stories, told with the right pacing. Shown with fluid movement, in places that are as eerie as beautiful.

Above all, you use light, darkness and color so masterfully! And then there are the many subtle details, which one might overlook, yet still serve the story.

Thank you so much for this!

(+2)

this is an amazing game, love the story, graphics, and music. I can play this game again and again, looking forward for more of your creations.

(+2)

Any chance to have a mac version ?

I can confirm there will be a Mac version, check this other reply for the details: https://itch.io/post/3446803

Thaaaaaanks!!! :)

(+2)

As a new player, I'm mainly downloading this because I'm immediately excited by the obscure reference to Italo Calvino, hahaha

(+2)

Damn! this is amazing, the story, art, music.....wow, just wow. Please keep up the good work and thank you!

Most amazing free game I have ever played!

I'm not able to pause the game, no keys except the left click works. Am i missing something?

(+1)

I have to say THIS IS A MUST PLAY if you are a horror fan or in awe of the power of this under utilized art style in games.

I don't want to spoil anything, but the game gradually pulls you in with more intense and graphic themes that make you invested in discovering the story's secrets. It's a medley of mystery like Murder on The Orient Express, meets Lovecraft, meets beautiful pixel art!

(+2)

Wonderful game with very beautiful pixel art and music! I just got finished playing through it and I think I'll replay it soon.

(1 edit)

i like your game expecially your speciphic grafic : pixel art . I am a programmer of Unity3d if you want  we can do something toghether.

So GOOD JOB

(+2)

Amazing. Absolutely amazing.

This was a pleasure. All the little character animations really make it feel like they exist in the world. My favorite chapter was Lady Winterbourne's
